UN declared October 24 as United Nations Day in 1947. The event was to be observed by all member countries. United Nations Day continues to be celebrated globally, as part of United Nations Week. And this years theme is; "Indigenous Languages Matter for Sustainable Development, Peace Building and Reconciliation".
Traditionally, United Nations day is spent on meeting and events that revolves around the different agendas of the United Nations.
Here in Philippines, particularly in school, the the teachers prepares contests or events related to United Nations for the students to join, like UN quiz, etc.
We need to celebrate United Nations because it promotes awareness of and action on political, social, cultural, humanitarian, or human right issues.
